Kansas

1,000 Days of Expressing God’s Love at School

This is a three-year campaign to enrich the lives of the students, educators, and staff of public schools in the state of Kansas by helping the schools appropriately and lawfully include teaching about Judeo-Christian history, thought, and values. Within the context of constitutionally-defined parameters, the campaign promotes academic freedom, freedom of religious expression, and encourages local churches to bless their public schools in word and deed.

This campaign is sponsored and organized by the MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) Education Department and Kansas Association of American Educators.

Campaign Coordinator Dr. Jo Lamar conducts quarterly meetings in the Hager Lecture Hall of MNU to provide networking opportunities, updates, practical tools, and resources. For more information and quarterly meeting dates, contact Dr. Lamar (jlamar@mnu.edu).

You can join the campaign by personally carrying the message of academic and religious freedom to your schools and by getting involved in the various school-related programs listed below:

Nazarene International Education Association (NIEA)
NIEA is comprised of schools and individuals associated with the Church of the Nazarene who recognize the need for a support network to provide fellowship and resources to strengthen their educational ministries. Members are teachers, administrators, and pastors of Christian schools, public schools, private schools, and home schools. Benefits include discounts on annual conventions and seminars, helpful book resources, and a quarterly electronic publication providing resources for more effective ministry. For more information, visit http://niea-online.org.

Moms in Touch
Moms in Touch International has 150,000 women worldwide who pray for their children’s and grandchildren’s schools. It is made up of two or more moms from the same school who meet for one hour each week to pray for their children, their schools, their teachers, and administrators. Fellowship of Christian Athletes
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is touching millions of lives... one heart at a time. Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ. The area representative for Johnson County Kansas is Drew Mathews. For more information see www.fca.org or call 913-558-6087.

Young Life
Young Life seeks to carry the message of Jesus Christ into that tumultuous tide and points teenagers toward life as they were created to live it. Since 1941, the dynamic that has characterized Young Life is its commitment to relationships. Young Life leaders meet kids on their turf in the interest of friendship. As leaders get to know teenagers, they are able to share the love of Jesus Christ through platforms like Young Life club, Campaigners and trips to camp. For more information, visit www.younglife.org. The area director for Johnson County is Marsha Campbell; http://www.bluevalley.younglife.org

SPARX
Imagine a place where barriers are broken, friendships are built, character is instilled and a lifestyle of purity is a priority. A place where 6th grade girls learn that they are: Spectacular, Precious, Adorable, Radical and Xtreme. Now imagine these same young women not only becoming friends with each other but with other 6th grade girls who attend different elementary schools. What an impact this could make in our community and in the lives of these precious Princesses! A large sisterhood of 6th grade girls coming from different elementary schools, joining together in heart and mind before stepping into junior high. Our vision is to reach into the lives of all young women 6th grade, 7th grade, and beyond. Would you like to see how you could be involved in SPARX? If so contact Tracey Sinclair or Susan Meyer at s.p.a.r.x@comcast.net.

Club 121
YouthFront uses several approaches to move teenagers further into Jesus. But more than any program, YouthFront is people. We’re Topher Philgreen putting the final logistical touches on a packed out concert in the YouthFront Auditorium. We're Jamie Roach coaching youthworkers on the Spiritual Formation of students. We’re Mike King, training youth ministers in other cities how to duplicate church partnerships. We're Amy Vanarsdall leading and coaching a group of student leaders at a Blue Spring's High School Club121. We’re Eric Peterson, planning for summer camp as December’s first snow starts to fall. Our mission: to bring youth into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. For more information, visit our website at www.youthfrontzone.com

Good News Clubs
A Good News Club involves boys and girls ages 5 through 12 who gather with their friends at school after school hours to sing songs, play games, hear Bible stories, and learn about children around the world who are following Jesus. There are currently Good News Clubs in El Dorado, KS and Independence, KS. For more information on helping an existing club or starting one at your school, visit www.cefonline.org.

Fellowship and Christian Encouragement (FACE) for Educators
FACE is a national organization of over 1,000 chapters and 11,000 educators who meet weekly within their schools to encourage, motivate, and support each other through fellowship, discussions, Bible reading, and prayer. See You At The Pole (SYATP)
